The third International Media Law, Policy & Practice Conference (IMLPP) took place on Thursday 5 April in the Institute for Information Law (IViR). An annual student-organised event, students are given the opportunity to show what they’ve learned in the course IMLPP, and for some it is the first time they will have engaged in public speaking.

As the day unfolded, three panel discussions were held, there was a Media Law Moot Court competition, and a new publication - Open Journalism: The Road Travelled and the Road Ahead - was launched.

Lecturer-of-the Year Tarlach McGonagle gave the kick off and had a few words to say:

“The conference is a unique and stimulating form of 'activerend onderwijs' and 'research-driven' teaching, both of which Faculty is trying to promote across the board. The students have worked hard and enthusiastically to prepare the event and for most of them, it will be the first time that they have participated actively in, or given formal presentations at, an academic conference - and in English to boot.”
