Sunny introduction for new students
The new first-year law students were welcomed on Tuesday, 30 August, followed by the new Master's students on Thursday, 1 September. Sunny weather and renewed energy made for a lively atmosphere: 'It looks like a neighbourhood barbecue.'
The newly admitted Bachelor's students – who are not only new to the Faculty of Law, but largely to the university experience as well – received lots of good advice during their first day in Oudemanhuispoort: 'Hit the ground running', 'speak up if anything happens that gets in the way of your studies', 'keep it manageable'. Students were taken on a tour of the buildings and were then treated to ice cream in the courtyard.
Welcome from the dean and Graduate School director
In the same courtyard two days later, the Master's students enjoyed a performance by a live band. This was just after the new group had gathered in the hall to be welcomed by dean André Nollkaemper and Graduate School director Marjoleine Zieck.
On Friday morning, the exchange students and the Master's students from abroad embarked on a boat trip through the canals of Amsterdam, followed by an informational talk about our own Law Library.
