Dr Nuria Ramos Martin
European and International Labour Law (LLM track)
'I think labour and social security law is a dynamic branch of law constantly evolving at national, European, and international level. That makes this branch of law a very interesting and at the same time demanding area for legal scholars. '
'I like to inspire my teaching and research activities in the challenges currently faced by labour and social law. My current research interest are:
- EU gender equality law and positive action measures, and the legislation and policies dealing with equal treatment for disabled persons in employment and social protection;
- how corporate social responsibility can contribute to improving the protection of labour standards and promoting a better gender balance in economic decision-making;
- European industrial relations and social dialogue;
- reforms of the regulation of the labour market in the national context of several EU Member States, in particular Spain and the Netherlands;
- case studies on the implementation of EU Directives and policies in the social field at national level;
- and European Social Security Law, specifically on migrants workers’ rights, frontier workers and posted work.'
'The University of Amsterdam, the labour law department and the Hugo Sinzheimer Institute are a reference for the teaching and research in the fields of labour and social security law and industrial relations. These subjects are taught here in multilevel, comparative and interdisciplinary approaches, involving renowned legal scholars and social sciences experts.'
'Teachers include individuals who have written relevant textbooks and peer-reviewed scientific publications in the area and expert reports for European and International organisations, and have thus contributed significantly to the development of labour and social law. The academic staff teaching in this track are highly qualified legal scholars who find the interaction with an audience of international students tremendously interesting.'
Dr Nuria Ramos Martin coordinates the courses International Labour Law and European Social Security Law, and teaches two seminars about collective labour rights at international and European level in the course Social Dialogue and Collective Bargaining.
